Parents Forum - Thursday 1 March 2018, 7pm

This term's Parents Forum agenda will focus on the following topics:

  • The new 1-9 GCSE’s - what’s changed? We will give an overview of the key changes to the new GCSE’s in both English and Maths and highlight the main challenges facing both staff and students.

  • Planning ahead – where to start? This session gives you a brief overview of Careers at school and focuses on our “U-Explore” resource, which is an excellent starting point for parents and children to find out about different careers, qualifications required and how to plan next steps.

  • Helping your child at home using ICT. Mr Glover will be demonstrating the new virtual learning environment “The Student Room” which replaces Frog from September. The site will be demonstrated and parents are to be consulted on possible improvements prior to going live.

  • Managing Behaviour - the ups and downs of the teenage years. Mr Toop will look at some simple principles on helping to avoid conflict with difficult teenage behaviour.

The evening will last for no longer than one hour and attendees are not required to book a seat.  We hope these topics will be of interest and of use to you and look forward to welcoming you on the night. There will be an opportunity at the end of the evening for parents to stay and ask any further questions.
