International Schools Award

The International Schools Award (ISA) is an accreditation scheme run by the British Council for the Department for Children, Schools and Families (DCSF) in the UK for curriculum-based work in schools.

Warlingham School was recently awarded the prestigious ‘10th Anniversary’ trophy for receiving the ISA three-times consecutively (Left: Warlingham School Co-ordinator, Ron Mugga accepts the award from BBC Special Correspondent, Fergal Keane in April 2009).   As one of only 62 schools in the UK to be accredited with this accolade, Warlingham School has spent the last ten years developing relationships with international businesses, associations and partner schools to provide students with a unique global experience covering many curriculum areas.

Each year, Warlingham students from every year group participate in a host of internationally themed events and activities such as: Communic8 - a joint Business & Enterprise and Modern Foreign Language initiative promoting the use of languages within business and supported by a variety of international businesses such as NH Hotels, Mondial Assistance and Rowland Brothers. Creative Arts Day – a series of sessions run by the Art, Drama and Music departments during which the three subjects embrace an international theme. Namibia Partnership – a partnership with the Udjombala Junior Secondary School in Nambia where teacher/student exchange trips are organised during the spring and summer terms following months of fundraising by the selected Warlingham students who have to draw upon their enterprise skills to devise innovative ideas to raise funding for both themselves and their African counterparts.
