Overview
The Modern Languages department is made up of 6 highly qualified linguists who can teach 3 modern foreign languages, including French, German and Spanish, across key stages 3, 4 and 5. Excellent support is available for students of all ability and the department also offers a range of extra-curricular activities to incentivise and motivate all those that study languages.

Moi, j'aime: Students how to understand and give personal details about themselves and their pastimes across listening, speaking, reading and writing.
Year 8
En Forme: Learning how to apply listening, speaking, reading and writing skills within the context of healthy living.

En Echange: Applying the four core skills (listening, speaking, reading and writing) within the context of foreign language exchange.

Students study a range of comprehensive topics ranging from their personal relationships, holidays and tourism, healthy living, the world of work, the environment and the future career plans.

Topics build on students' learning at GCSE and cover a wide range of interesting and engaging issues. eg Media, popular culture, relationships, the environment and contemporary social issues. the common thread is discovering how people speak at a personal level, and expressing individual views.
