Johnson House is named after Amy Johnson (1 July 1903 – 5 January 1941) - the first female pilot to fly alone from Britain to Australia, which she achieved at the age of 26. Her flying career began in 1928 and other triumphs included becoming the first female ground engineer licensed by the Air Ministry, and being awarded the C.B.E. for her flying achievements.

Johnson House Report July 2010
It has been another successful term for Johnson House; at the time of writing this we are currently leading the House Competition again! Currently we have 325 points, with Chichester hot-on-our heals with 315 points. It is all to play for with points from Sports Day and the Year 8 Classwork Competition being the deciding factors! The first half of the summer term has shown how successful Johnson House are, with the highest number of merits in Years 7, 8, 9 and 10! This reflects the fact that I truly believe Johnson students are the best in the school.
As always at this time of year, I am looking forward to the end of year Prizegiving Ceremony, as last year Johnson House has more students nominated for awards than any other House! I would like to thank all the
students who have got involved in House events this term and put into practice the Johnson motto of being “Up for the Challenge”. I hope everyone is ready for the challenge of winning Sports Day! As ever, a massive ‘thank you’ goes out to the Johnson tutor team for their support and enthusiasm this term!
With only seven days of term to go at the time of writing, let’s hope that for the second year the House Shield will be ‘yellow’ by this time next week! I would like to take this opportunity to wish students and parents a relaxing, and hopefully sunny, summer holiday, so that everyone is ready and refreshed to continue the Johnson success story in September.
