Sixth form Charity Committee Is Awarded The Diana Award

Warlingham School’s Sixth Form Charity Committee has been awarded The Diana Award for their contribution to community cohesion. The committee which comprises Year 13 students, Georgia Thomas, Becky Earl, Lucy Soale, Natalie Lynch, Daniel Skegg, Daniel Scudamore, Jennifer Robbins, Jade Campbell, Katie James, Paige Clay, Michael Rackett, Owen Eacott, Chris Beckett, Chris Steward, Nick Hawkins and led by Sophie-May Lobley, raised over £3,000 for Breast Cancer Campaign, Sports Relief and Mind charities. Their fundraising efforts were rewarded as a result of organising a series of charity events such as Hawaiian, pyjama and ‘stereotypes’ theme days, parties and cake sales during which all Sixth Formers participated in and donated money.

The charity, Mind, have also recently awarded the committee a Bronze Award for their contribution to fundraising.

Head of Sixth Form, Rob Scott said: ‘I am very pleased that this group of inspiring young people have been recognised by such a prestigious award. They are great role models for our younger students and excellent ambassadors of the school.’

The Diana award was established in 1999 to recognise the fundraising efforts of young people. Founded by the Diana Memorial Committee, the Diana Award was set up as a lasting memorial to Princess Diana and her belief in the power of young people to change the world.
