Headteacher, Paul Foster said, “Despite the fact that our college students were not able to show their knowledge and skills in their examinations this summer, they deserve credit and should feel proud of their academic achievements. Our priority last week was to quickly analyse the results, make centre assessment grades available to students and provide our support to help them manage the impact of their results on their next steps. It was clear that a significant number of our students were negatively affected by the standardisation process and so the change will be a welcome decision for teachers and students alike.

In light of the fact these results are not comparable to previous outcomes for the School and have been subject to so much change, we are not sharing cohort-wide outcomes. Instead, we are focusing on the achievements of individual students and their successful progression to their next steps – into higher education, an apprenticeship or the world of work. We wish all our students the very best for the future, after such a challenging final year of their post-16 education.”

Assistant Headteacher and Head of College, Rob Scott, was also delighted: “I have been particularly impressed with the hard work and dedication shown by so many of the students in this year group and it is pleasing that for most of them their hard work has been rewarded with a number of really good grades. I am also very proud that many of our students continue to demonstrate their wider commitment both to the college and to the local community as part of their Warlingham Graduation qualification. It is for this reason that our Warlingham Graduates continue to be so sought after by Universities and employers.”

Thanks to their excellent results, many of our College students are now looking forward to studying at a number of the top universities, including Henry Firman to read Economics at Southampton, Megan Van Noort to read Sport and Exercise Science at Loughborough, Lucie Scott to read Mathematics at Birmingham, Callum Smith to read History at Nottingham, Adam Dunn to read Geography at Birmingham, Harriet Roberts to read History at Winchester, Neve Horn to read Biology at Exeter and Laura Colbran and Kim Horvath to study Fashion at the University of Creative Arts in Epsom. Sam Coole will also be starting out his career as a Glider Pilot and teacher, and Ylenia Priest her footballing career with the London City Lionesses. They all chose to come into school to collect their results and took the opportunity to look at the newly-refurbished college facilities, which they thought were amazing. Some of them have siblings that are moving into the college who will be enrolling next week and will benefit from the improvements, which include new relaxing areas, a wonderful outdoor area and state-of-the-art computer equipment.
